Not all carpets are created equally. Every carpet has its purpose, features and advantages. So choosing the right one is critical, especially when it is for your business. Based on your preferences, office requirements and conditions, our experts can help you choose the suitable fabric, style and type of carpet flooring.
If you are looking for the most versatile flooring product, then carpet tiles are an apt choice. It will allow you to create a stylish look with the advantage of removing and replacing individual squares if staining or damage occurs. Carpet tiles come in abundant colours, styles and qualities and mostly have a 50cm x 50cm standard size. They are adhered to the subfloor with pressure-sensitive adhesive to allow for easy removal.
Carpet tiles are great for commercial applications. Logistics play a part in large areas, especially where site access for heavy broadloom carpet makes installation difficult. The package size of 5sqm cartons makes carpet tiles a perfect solution for offices, multi-story buildings and commercial sites.
Although carpet tiles are available in wool, most carpet tiles are now manufactured using nylon fibre. It is because of nylon fibre's durability, stain-resistant surface and ease of maintenance.
Our guide below will help you get started on your selection process.
Twist Carpets
Twist carpets are made with a twisted fibre that comes from the backing and sheared at the tip. The twisting causes the pile to lie in different directions, giving a more textured appearance and reduces shading and footprint. The feel of the carpet will also vary depending on the number of twists in the fibre strands. Generally, the more twists in the fibre, the better wear you will get.
Attributes: Comfortable and soft, hard-wearing, textured appearance. Suitable for busy lifestyles and households with pets.
Loop Carpets
Loop carpet is where the carpet strand comes from the backing, forms a loop and returns to the backing. Loop carpets don't tend to show footprints or shading as found in other carpet styles.
Attributes: Durable, easy to maintain and suitable for all lifestyles.
Plush Carpets
Plush carpets are where the strands come straight up from the back and are cut at the tips. Plush carpets have a high-density pile that gives a luxurious and comfortable underfoot feel. Plush carpets tend to display temporary shading from footprints and vacuuming.
Attributes: Luxurious look and feel, suitable for your personal space.
Multi-Level Carpets — Level Cut Loop or Textured Cut Loop
Multi-level carpets allow design textures to be created within the carpet. They are made from a mix of some loops and some cut fibres, often of varying heights to give it a textured or patterned style.
Attributes: Durable, easy to maintain, perfect for busy lifestyles.

Wool carpet is naturally flame retardant, environmentally friendly and is a sustainable fibre. The natural fibre acts as an excellent insulator, helping to reduce noise and keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. Because of the characteristics of the fibre and the lanolin content in wool, it has a natural ability to resist general soiling, releases dirt easily and responds well to professional cleaning.
It offers superb resilience to wear because of the inherent quality of the fibre to "bounce back" and recover following the pressure of foot traffic or furniture placement. Wool is an excellent choice for living areas where appearance is crucial. It is perfect if you're looking to carpet the heavy-duty areas of your home, such as the hall, stairs, or landing. Wool carpet is generally more expensive than other fibres.
Solution-dyed nylon carpets are proven to have a pleasing appearance, stain resistance and strong durability. The colour dye is added to the liquid fibre solution before the fibres extrude into solution-dyed nylon. It allows the colour to be mixed into the solution thoroughly, bringing the colour through the fibre once it is extruded.
In this instance, picture a carrot: unlike a radish, which has colour only on the outside, a solution-dyed fibre has colour through the fibre, making solution-dyed carpets colourfast and more resistant to fading than other fibres. Solution-dyed nylon carpets are a trendy choice as they hold the middle ground between wool and nylon alternatives.
Nylon and polyester carpets are coloured differently than solution-dyed nylon. In this, the fibres are dipped in a vat of dye after they are extruded. This method is excellent for achieving bright colours. In this method, the dye penetrates just the outer surface of the fibre. Think of a radish: the interior is white, but the exterior is red. Nylon and polyester carpets are generally less expensive than solution-dyed nylon carpets.
Polypropylene is a synthetic fibre, popular because it is inexpensive, water-resistant and durable. It costs less per square metre than other fibres. It is ideal for rental properties, children's bedrooms and playrooms as it is easy to clean and highly stain resistant.
Polypropylene is not as strong as other fibres. So it is usually used in loop pile construction in which there is less need for resiliency. Polypropylene, like nylon and polyester fibres, gets dipped in dye to achieve its colour, with the dye penetrating just the outer surface of the fibre. It is a good value for money carpet.
